Nepal upon the invitation of His Majesty late King Birendra of Nepal in

--------Nepal and France have a long lasting and historical relationship. As far
back as the premiership of Bhimsen Thapa and notable milestone of 1850
AD, when Nepalese Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana visited the French
Emperor Napoleon III.
- The diplomatic relations between France and Nepal were established 66
years ago, with the accreditation of the first French Ambassador Levi
Daniel to Nepal on 24th of April 1949. The French ambassador presented
his credentials to then Rana Prime Minister Mohan Sumsher on April 24,
1949
- Late King Mahendra and Queen Ratna of Nepal paid an official visit to
France at the invitation of Charles de Gaulle in 1967. After this
successful visit by Nepal’s King and Queen, the two countries agreed to
open residential embassies. Until 1967, the French Ambassadors resided
in New Delhi, India.
